My 19th Birthday

This year for my birthday I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something that would benefit not only me- as in make me happy- but other people as well. Most days when I’m caught up in my thoughts I’m thinking about things I can do to make a change in the world and how to improve someone else’s life to make it a little easier for them whether it’s give my time to help at a food drive or donating money to a non-profit organization to help bring in supplies to the different countries across the world that need help, even if it is just bringing awareness to an organization that touches my heart. With that being said this year to make my birthday special  I do not want gifts or anything like that I would like to raise $190 before October 21, 2015 –the day after my birthday-  to an organization that I have been interested in for a while now called Pencils of Promise.

Pencils of Promise is an organization that builds schools and teacher support in countries that do not have the opportunities like we do when it comes to an education to help bring education and learning skills to the youth of the countries. They are an amazing organization and I would love to be able to go and help build a school for one day or even intern for them while I’m still in college.  I chose this organization this year because this past year I found out how much education is important to me while I was struggling to figure out what I wanted to do educational/career wise. I was raised being told an education is one of the most important things you can have beside a relationship with God, and I wanted to pass that on to the people who are not able to get those things themselves. For me personally the donations that I receive for this campaign is a birthday present to me that will have a lasting effect on the people who it will benefit.

It would be wonderful if all of you can donate but if you can’t that is still ok even if you just tell your friends, classmates, or cousins about and they pass along the word or donate to the cause will be the most wonderful thing in the world.

To donate go to http://www.fundraise.pencilsofpromise.org/tericas19thbirthday. I assure you all of the money is going directly to PoP and I will be seeing none of it both figuratively and literally. So far since I opened the campaign I have raised $80 dollar so that gives me major hope that we will reach the goal or maybe even surpass it. I thank you in advance if you do help out one way or another and I hope you are able to give to such an amazing cause.
